Chantal's sire is the 1993 Rheinland Champion of Grading, 'Chantre B' who is also approved for breeding in Westfalia. He is a son of the British pony stallion Catherston Nightsafe who stood in Germany for two seasons. Chantre B has sired many State Premium daughters and Bundesstuten champions.

Following in her Mother's footsteps, Chantal herself stood Champion at her mare grading in Westfalia and was awarded State Premium status. As a four year old she produced a filly foal by the multi-champion Rheinland pony stallion FS Pour L'amour and embarked on a ridden career the following year. Chantal’s filly foal went on to achieve State Premium status herself at the Westfalen mare grading.

Chantal is currently owned by the Bernwode Stud and was initially ridden by pony rider Louise Crutcher who partnered her in her first competitions. During their time together and despite Chantal's lack of previous competition experience, the combination was selected for central BYRDS training in winter 2002/3 and as reserve for the 2002 England Dressage Team travelling to Blarney in Ireland. Chantal and Louise also qualified for the 2003 Open Novice Regional Championships.

In early 2004, 16 year old Alice Hurley took over the ride on Chantal for the summer and achieved some notable scores at Elementary Dressage, including qualifying for the 2004 Open Elementary National Winter Semi-Finals.

Since late 2006, the then 15 year old Gemma Abram has had Chantal on loan and they have been competing at the 2007 Premier Leagues, gaining good scores in the FEI Pony Tests and qualifying for the 2007 Summer Medium Restricted Regional Final, where they were placed 12th in a strong class. 

As 2007 was Gemma's last year on ponies, Chantal was retired to stud at the end of the year.  The stud plans to put her in foal to Bernwode Brokat for a 2009 foal.
