Evelina was bred in Holland and was subsequently approved for breeding in Germany and England. She is by the Dutch stallion 'Prins Alfred', her dam line being predominantly New Forest. Evelina's New Forest grandsire, Merrie Moscan, was bred in England and exported to Holland as a foal.

Evelina was the first broodmare to be imported by the stud and she has consistently produced top quality foals by a selection of European pony stallions. All her offspring have inherited her extravagant movement and kind temperament. Evelina's eldest son by Brillant is now competing in Germany proving to be talented and easy. Her 1999 colt, also by Brillant, sold well in Germany.

Evelina travelled to England carrying a foal by Apslau who is also the sire of our State Premium mare, Bernwode Mandy. In 2004, Evelina produced her first daughter to the extravagant Dutch stallion, Orchard Glasnost. This quality filly, Octavia, was a first foal for Orchard Glasnost who has been competing to Advanced Medium.

Evelina spent the next stud season on breeding loan to the Delaroche Stud in Wales where she produced a lovely filly by Berwode Brokat for owner, Lucy Sheldrake.  Delaroche Breve is a full sister to Evelina’s 2002 colt Bernwode Benedict, who is now a SPSS graded stallion in his own right.

Evelina was subsequently bought by Lucy Sheldrake, at the end of 2007 and the following year Delaroche Breve became the highest scoring Sports Pony yearling  throughout the 2008 Futurity series with 9.5 for athleticism and 9 for type & temperament.  Evelina bred again for the Delaroche Stud in 2008 this time producing a colt by their own stallion, Lauriston (AES).  Delaroche Laureve did phenomenally well as a yearling at the 2009 Futurity Evaluation and was awarded an ELITE premium on a fantastic score of 9.04.  On the strength of her children’s results Evelina ranked as the 2009 BEF Leading Dam of Sports Ponies and was awarded the honour of The British Breeding and BHF ‘Top Dam of Sports Ponies over All Years’ at the Breeders Awards Dinner in London in January
