Bernwode Delauney
Hanoverian Mare
Born 16/06/00
Branded and Registered with the British Hanoverian Horse Society
Delauney is one of the few horses bred at the stud. She carries some of
the most valuable dressage bloodlines in the world and is an excellent
example of the 'modern warmblood' being very elegant yet retaining the
outstanding paces expected from her breeding. Delauney has been retained
by the stud and having been lightly backed then turned away due lack of
a rider, Delauney will begin her competition career in 2008 with Gemma
Abram.
Delauney's sire, Don Gregory, is a son of the late, great Oldenburg
stallion Donnerhall. Don Gregory has competed at Grand Prix level with
Lisa Wilcox and had already achieved international placements by the age
of seven. He is perhaps best known as a sire of premium foals and top
auction horses and in 2000 was listed by the German FN as the prime sire
of dressage horses.
Delauney's dam, Raissa, is by the late Oldenburg multiple dressage
champion, Rubinstein, ridden for Germany by Nicole Uphoff. Before his
untimely death Rubinstein sired over sixty approved stallion sons,
including performance test winners, and more than four hundred graded
daughters! His notable sons include Rohdiamant, Royal Diamond and
Regazzoni who have become valuable assets to dressage breeding
throughout the world. Raissa is now owned by a stud in Scotland.
