Bernwode Benedict

German/Dutch Bay Colt
Born 13/05/02
Bernwode Brokat X Bernwode Evelina
Graded SPSS UK

2002 saw the arrival of the first crop of foals from our own young stallion Bernwode Brokat, the first being this wonderfully correct colt. Benedict has three huge, uphill paces and a friendly 'laid back' attitude to life, making him an ideal stallion prospect with all the expected potential to ensure a successful competition career.

He is the fourth colt foal born to our wonderful Dutch pony mare Bernwode Evelina.  Pictures of Benedict as a foal and yearling can been seen on his youngstock page - here. Benedict was granted a 2 year license by the SPSS in 2006 and having stood at Hartpury College for the 2008 stud season, they have now purchased him.  Benedict will be standing at Hartbury next and subsequent seasons.

Benedict's bloodlines boast the gold medal winning German Dressage Team pony, Diamant II and many champions of grading. His paternal Grandsire, Brillant was the leading sire of German sports ponies up to his death in 2004.

Benedict's sire, Bernwode Brokat, is a succesful stallion who has cometed at FEI level with various young riders.  Brokat's bloodlines trace back to some of our superb Welsh ponies such as Bwlch Hill Wind. He also carries the time honoured Downland blood found in so many of the most successful ponies in both Great Britain and mainland Europe.

His dam, Bernwode Evelina, was bred in Holland and was subsequently approved for breeding in Germany and England. She is by the Dutch stallion 'Prins Alfred', her dam line being predominantly New Forest. Evelina's New Forest grandsire, Merrie Moscan, was bred in England and exported to Holland as a foal.
