The first of 2 foals born at the stud in 2001, Poppy's combined bloodlines include a number of Champions and sires of internationally acclaimed sports ponies. She is a true athlete with the kindest of temperaments.  This lovely pony has been retained by the stud and was graded into the SPSS Main Studbook in 2006.  For more recent updates on Poppy, view her 'broodmare' page - here

Poppy's Sire, Pilgrim's Red stood as overall Champion Pony Stallion at Rastede, Germany in 1999 qualifying for the Bundeschampionat where he became the 1999 German National Champion 3 yr old Pony Stallion. Poppy is believed to be the only Pilgrim's Red offspring outside Germany where his foals are attracting much interest.

Poppy's Dam, Bernwode Dorina, was Reserve Champion Pony Mare for Oldenburg. She is closely related to many successful competition ponies and has produced four exceptional foals. Her eldest son was selected for the Elite Auction in Germany and is now standing at stud in Ireland.

Aslan is a charming character who has inherited his delightful temperament, enormous presence and excellent movement from his proven parentage. He has now backed and, under new ownership, proving to be talented and easy.

Aslan is by the notable German sire 'Apslau' whose offspring have won over 17.000 DM in prize money in affiliated competition. He has sired champions of stallion grading and the highest priced pony to be sold at the 1996 Dutch auction. Apslau is also the sire of our State Premium Mare Bernwode Mandy.

Aslan's dam, Bernwode Evelina is a graded NRPS Dutch pony mare who has produced several outstanding youngsters for the stud to date. Her movement and temperament are exceptional and she consistently passes these qualities to her children.
